Goss: No More USA For SRK?

August 19th, 2009 by Sarika Sood |

image Shah Rukh Khan was frisked at the Newark airport and we have been hearing about it ever since. The media has spoken about it. SRK’s friends and ex-friends have spoken about it.

Cricketers have given their opinion. And even the Governor of California, Mr Arnold Schwarzenegger has invited Khan for dinner at Washington DC. So I was really not surprised when I heard this one.

Apparently, producer Viveck Vaswani has taken the entire episode to heart and cancelled the premiere of his SRK starrer film Dulha Mil Gaya in the US.

What however shocked me was when I heard about the new destination chosen by Vaswani for the King Khan. A little birdie tells me, the producer has now decided to hold the premiere of his film in Trinidad. The film is set for a November 13 release.

But then there’s a reason behind choosing that particular destination. In the film, Shah Rukh Khan plays the role of a businessman based out of… TRINIDAD! He has been paired with his Main Hoon Na co-star Sushmita Sen in the film.

The film is about the SRK-Sush and another couple played by Fardeen Khan and Tara Sharma. It has been directed by Mudassar Aziz.

SRK’s My Name Is Khan Bags A 100 Crore Deal

July 29th, 2009 by Sarika Sood |

image The marketing and distribution rights for Shahrukh Khan starer My Name Is Khan has been bought by Fox Star Studios for an whopping Rs 100 Crore. The is the biggest deal ever for a Bollywood outstripping Rs 90 crore for Aamir Khan starer Ghajini and Rs 70 Crore for Om Shanti Om bagged.

The film is being co-produced by Karan Johar and Shahrukh Khan with a budget of 55 Crore. The movoe is set against the 9/11 terror attacks and its impact on an Indian Muslim living in the US.

My Name is Khan is being touted as the most awaited releases of the year. Shahrukh Khan and Kajol will return to the screen together after a gap of eight long years. They were last seen together in Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham in 2001.

Film analysts are banking on the fact that it was the trio of Shahrukh, Kajol and director Karan Johar which had delivered the superhit Kuch Kuch Hota Hai.

This deal will serve as a personal satisfaction for Shahrukh has not only has his movie bagged a huge deal it has superseded the previous one held by Aamir Khan.

It may be recalled that Shahrukh’s Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Aamir’s Ghajini has clashed at the box office last year. On that occasion Aamir had emerged as the clear winner.

Shahrukh Ends His Cold War With Aishwarya

July 29th, 2009 by Sarika Sood |

image Shahrukh Khan is all set to end his seven year old cold war with Aishwarya Bachchan. If sources inside the industry are to be believed Shahrukh plans to cast Aishwarya in his next home production.

The two stars who had delivered blockbusters like Mohabbatein and Devdas had fallen apart on the sets of Chalte Chalte after Aishwarya was ousted from the movie and replaced by Rani Mukherjee.

It was then being rumoured that Salman Khan who had just been dumped by Aishwarya created a lot of ruckus on the sets. The movie was going nowhere with Salman’s behaviour and Shahrukh who was producing the movie finally decided to oust Aishwarya from it. Since then the two stars have not been in talking terms and engaged in a cold war.

But things are now looking positive as the SRK and Ash have decided to bury their hatchets. Recently during Karan Johar’s birthday party Shahrukh had apologised to Aishwarya for having wronged her.

Later Aishwarya along with Abhishek was seen dancing with Shahrukh and his wife Gauri. The director for the movie hasn’t be chosen as yet but the colossal stars will surely be together on the screen.

SRK’s Dulha Mil Gaya Sold For Rs. 25 Crore

July 20th, 2009 by Sarika Sood |

image Few months back we were the first ones to report about BIG Pictures giving up on the rights of Shah Rukh Khan starrer Dulha Mil Gaya produced by Viveck Vaswani. The long in the making film is now finally complete and has finally managed to get a buyer in a big SRK fan.

Our trade source reveals, “Vaswani has finally managed to get a buyer for his film for a very good price. Shah Rukh has only got an extended special appearance in the film with the main leads being Fardeen Khan and Sushmita Sen.

But despite knowing that fact, the world rights of the film have been purchased for Rs. 25 crore by a Dubai based businessman.

This particular Mr. Moneybags is not related to the film industry and is using this SRK starrer as a stepping stone in Bollywood. Since he is also a huge Shah Rukh Khan fan it didn’t take much time for agreeing to such a high price which Vaswani apparently quoted to him.”

Shahrukh Shoots With Salman’s Stolen Guitar

July 11th, 2009 by Sarika Sood |

image Shahrukh Khan has not resorted to stealing guitars for sure. The actor who was shooting for Mudassar Aziz’s Dulha Mil Gaya shot with a red guitar that was taken from Salman Khan’s set with out his permission.

The incident happened when Aziz and choreographer Ahmed Khan did not fancy the red guitar supplied by the props supplier and asked for a replacement.

The only replacement available was with Salman Khan who was shooting for Wanted Dead And Alive. Since Salman was shooting on that day there was no way on earth that he would part with his guitar for a Shahrukh’s film.

Then the prop supplier sneaked in to Salman’s set and replaced the guitar they had brought without anybody’s premission.

Mudassar Aziz was relieved at the end of the shoot as after a long time he had Shahrukh’s dates and did not want to mess up a shoot for a guitar.

It is not known whether Salman Khan shot for Wanted with the other guitar. Well Salman has been trying to patch up with SRK off late but this incident might not help thing towards their reunion.

SRK’s Red Alert For Salman!

July 7th, 2009 by Sarika Sood |

image Shah Rukh Khan and Salman may maintain a distance from each other, but in a small industry it’s hard to be off each other’s radar completely.

Recently, SRK was shooting for Dulha Mil Gaya and was supposed to play a red guitar. The director Mudassar Aziz and choreographer Ahmed Khan didn’t fancy the guitar provided and asked for a replacement. The only substitute in the city was with Salman, who was shooting at Famous studios, Mahalaxmi, for Wanted.

Mudassar Aziz was aghast. He had got Shah Rukh’s dates with a lot of difficulty. He was panicking that the shoot may have to be cancelled yet again as it had been several times prior to this.

The people who supplied the guitar took a drastic risk. They sneaked out Salman’s guitar at Famous and quietly replaced it with SRK’s instrument. Sneaking into the lion’s den and having survived was no mean feat.

“They got it without Salman knowing who sneaked into his shoot and exchanged the instruments,” said a source from the sets. Ahmed Khan said, “I told the suppliers that we’ll wait for a few hours but they had to get it come what may. We could not afford to cancel the shoot.”

When Ahmed and the others asked them how they managed to get it from Salman, they said that when they entered the set, Salman was playing the guitar. After a while he kept the guitar aside and left. The suppliers took Salman’s guitar and replaced it with Shah Rukh’s guitar. The two guitars were similar and they don’t know if Salman shot with that guitar or not.

Mudassar Aziz said, “This is the best song of my film. I know that the song is a sure shot winner and I didn’t want to settle for anything less.”

Shahrukh Khan Set As Presenter At Golden Globe Awards

RGV: I Don’t Want To Work With Hrithik And SRK

July 4th, 2009 by Sarika Sood |

image Ram Gopal Verma who has always come up with new and scary films like Kaun, Bhoot, Jungle and now Agyaat is never short of comments on the current state of affairs, whether his or concerning others.

If we go through Ramu’s filmography, he has established new actors like Manoj Bajpai in Satya and Vivek Oberoi in Company. We usually don’t see him working with an A-list actor. So we asked him why not?

” I cast an actor as per the script. When I was making Agyaat I din’t think there was a need of any big actor. That’s why I don’t cast anyone big. I liked Nitin Kumar so I cast him in Agyaat. Also, when I was making Sarkar no one suited the role better than Bachchan senior and his son too.

The characters needed a tough and positive attitude which Amitabh Bachchan has and also he is the god father of the industry. So I cast him in Sarkar. His persona suited very well”

“I have always felt like making a film which should reach the audience. When there is a big cast sometimes the film doesn’t reach its core audicence. The film tends to rely on the weight of stars filled in the project, which dilutes from story-telling.

“When I made Company it had Ajay Devgan and Vivek. Although Vivek was a new comer the role needed someone fresh, to the characater. I could not have cast an established star. And I don’t think any one would have done Ajay’s character better than him. So casting big stars is not such a big deal.

image A film should speak, not the cast. See what happens is if you cast a new comer you can relate that character to him rather than casting someone known who will not be as receptive.”

What about not working with the A list stars. Does he miss out on the gifted actors or is he just penny pinching? “I have never dreamt of working with any super heroes like Hrithik Roshan or Shahrukh Khan because I first write the script and then cast. If someday I feel like my script needs any of them, I will definitely approach them.”

RGV is making another film with Vivek Oberoi called Rakht Charitra, “It is almost like a biopic on a very popular personality called Partal Ravi in south India. This was the story which I found very interesting and most amazing. And I cast Vivek in the film because after reading the script I realised he suits the role most.

As he has far more characteristics of a person than a hero”. If SRK and Hrithik are reading this, you guys know where to go if you are not looking for hero-giri!
