Shah Rukh Khan Forced to Defer Ra 1!!

ImageShah Rukh Khan, the undisputed badshah of bollywood who was supposed to start shooting for his ambitious sci- fi flick Ra 1 in September this year, has been forced to postpone it to the later half of next year due to injury scare. Sources from the US say that Shah Rukh Khan recently underwent a check up to see if he had recovered from his shoulder injury to perform heavy- duty action sequences for the upcoming superhero flick, but doctors disappointed him and told to desist from doing any action sequences for some more time. There was no way he could have performed in this Bond like movie without aggravating his already injured shoulder, as the movie is full of action, SFX and state- of –the- art gizmos just like other superhero flicks. Now, King Khan has decided to go for Farah Khan’s next film ‘Happy New Year’ after finishing the shooting of Karan Johar’s ‘My Name is Khan’ in the US.

This is not for the first time that Shah Rukh had to postpone his ambitious flick ‘Ra 1’. In fact, the film was originally scheduled to go on the floors in February 2009, but could not go as planned due to King Khan injuring himself on the sets of Viveck Vaswani’s ‘Dulha Mil Gaya’ around the same time. Shah Rukh underwent surgery and the film was postponed to September this year. In the meantime, Shah Rukh Khan started shooting for Karan Johar’s upcoming flick ‘My Name Is Khan’, as it required only histrionics from him and not any heavy-duty action sequences. Shah Rukh is on the verge of completing Karan’s film in the US and hence wanted to check with doctors if he could go for the action flick ‘Ra 1’ from September, but doctors ruled it out. Insiders say that Shah Rukh plays a superhero in the film ‘Ra 1’, which also requires a lot of body building, and the postponement of the action caper should be seen in this light.

The film is being directed by Anubhav Sinha and produced by Shah Rukh’s own production house. It may be recalled that Shah Rukh Khan started this film only after he could not agree to terms and conditions of ace filmmaker Shankar for working in his sci-fi flick ‘Robot’. Initially, Shah Rukh had given his assent for the movie but later proposed some changes in the script to suit his image. However, Shankar was not prepared to make any compromises and they parted ways. Now, Shankar is making the same film with Rajnikanth and Aishwarya Rai. It will be interesting to see if Shah Rukh Khan succeeds in this superhero avatar as no one else except Hrithik Roshan (in Krrish) has succeeded so far. For instance, Abhishek Bachchan had tried to make a superhero flick with ‘Drona’, but miserably failed at the box office.
